Emotional Intelligence: The model of traits

In the contrast of the previous model, the model of traits in the operationalisation of the emotional intelligence focuses on personality, i.e. on certain non-cognitive characteristics of an individual such as self-confidence, achievement in life, the general mood and the like. One of the representatives of this model is Bar-On, who suggests that emotional intelligence consists of five components: interpersonal competencies, intrapersonal competences, adaptability, stress management and general mood (Bar-On, 2000, p. 364). The aforementioned author believes that all of these components of emotional intelligence provide psychological welfare for individuals as well.
